Articulo de Markus Miessen & Shumon Basar en el que se muestra que el libro, en lugar de ser una publicación más acerca del estado de la arquitectura contemporánea como una crisis de estilo o forma, intenta, en palabras de sus editores, “desarticular la idea de “el Arquitecto” como el único encargado del espacio”.

WATERCUBE: The Book

Brief excerpt from a 320 pages new book, that will be available at bookshops on June 2008. With an exhaustive description about the Watercube there is a detailed study of the project, that starts with a brief explanation about the big changes that China and especially Beijing, has been living in the last decade, in terms of population and the construction boom that made possible that these kind of projects take place in a city like Beijing. Supported on a detailed processing of the information received (graphics, images, drawings) we look for a better presentation of the project, starting with the competition, making a complete overview about the design process and the concept, and finally explaining the building structure through the construction and the sustainable premises that make the Watercube such a spectacular building.

Presentación de uno de los 20 proyectos que forman parte del libro Arquitectura Sostenible. Una cuidadosa selección de proyectos que han sido diseñados siguiendo parámetros de sostenibilidad. Mediante un mismo esquema de análisis y completa información gráfica, se presentan proyectos adaptados a las condiciones climáticas de emplazamientos que van desde Australia hasta la India, con énfasis en las experiencias españolas. A partir de los ejemplos mostrados puede verse que el oficio del arquitecto, que incorpora criterios bioclimáticos desde la fase de proyecto, puede materializarse en edificaciones confortables y de alta calidad arquitectónica.
