Working Better - phase one launch

In Summer 2008 the Commission launched 'Working Better', a new policy initiative to explore how we can match the aspirations of employees with the needs of employers. Continuing from the 'Transformation of Work' project undertaken by the former Equal Opportunities Commission, we have expanded the parameters of Working Better to include the needs of parents, carers, disabled people, young people and older workers.

Promoting the safety and security of disabled people

Disabled people are at greater risk of experiencing violence or hostility than the wider population. This includes violence or hostility which might be perceived as a ‘hate crime’. This report summarises new research from the Equality and Human Rights Commission and sets out the actions the Commission will take to promote disabled people’s safety and security.
